THE ECOMMERCE REPORT

Privacy policy

Last updated 13 October 2026.

The Ecommerce Report ("we", "us") respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

Why we collect it

To reply to you, to send the newsletter you asked for, to understand which articles are read, to sell and report on advertising in aggregate, and to keep the site secure. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your email address with advertisers.

Who we share it with

Only with service providers that help us run the site: our hosting provider, our form handler, our email platform and our analytics provider. Some of these process data outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not break the site. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify individual readers by name.

Advertising

Advertisers on this site may set their own cookies to measure impressions and clicks. Their use of that data is governed by their privacy policies, not ours. Where we run programmatic advertising, you can opt out of personalised ads through your Google account settings.

How long we keep it

Enquiry emails are kept for two years. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe, and unsubscribing is one click in every email. Analytics data is retained for 14 months.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS and access to form submissions is limited to the editor. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee data transmitted over the internet.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
