eBay Australia's new Certified eBay Educator programme is now up and running.
eBay Australia's new certififed training programm is now live with a 30 question exame now online.
Details of how to become certified are spelled out in a 17 page contract that must be agreed before sitting the online exam.
Developed by Sydney based market research company, Stokes Mischewski, the new programme replaces the former eBay 'Education Specialist' arrangement with PowerU university in the US.
Any current eBay user with a feedback score of more than 50 and a feedback rating of more than 98% is entitled to sit the online exam.
If the first attempt doesn’t result in at least 25 of the 30 questions being answered successfully, you can try again but only one more time.
Once the exam has been passed, you are entitled to style yourself a i and start offering eBay training courses.
Under the contract eBay trainers have to use specified textbooks including How to use eBay.com.au and How to use PayPal,
both written by eBay Australia's customer insight manager, Todd Alexander.
Other important details are that Certified eBay Educators must charge no more than $200 per person per training course, and they must re-sit the exam every year.
It isn’t yet clear whether eBays’ certification will be limited to Australia, or also extends to the US and other locations where eBay operates.
But it is thought to be an Australian specific eBay initiative and the PowerU arrangement will continue to apply in the US.
This makes it doubtful whether Australians who have previously earned an Education Specialist accreditation will now lose that status.
A relatively small number of Australians earned eBay Education Specialist status under the previous arrangements with an even smaller number actually offering commercial training courses.
Amongst the better known of those offering courses are Nerada Stern, the Melbourne based owner of www.indemand.com.au.
As this issue went to press, details of the old education specialist arrangements are still up on the
ebay.com.au website.
Enquiries about the new arrangements should be emailed to aucategory@eBay.com
